Taylor Swift's "You Need To Calm Down" is an iconic song that solidifies the singer's huge support for the LGBTQ+ community.
It is released on August 23, 2019, celebrating its 2-year anniversary 3 days ago on Monday.
Now, it's been quite a while since its release and I've heard the song several times already, but it's only a few days ago when I decided to check out the lyrics.
Needless to say, I'm GLAAD I did.
According to Musixmatch, the source of the lyrics, what I thought as simple "When you could be glad" is actually "When you could be GLAAD."
For those who do not know, GLAAD is an acronym for "Gay and Lesbian Alliance Against Defamation." According to Wikipedia, it is an American non-governmental media monitoring organization that protests against defamatory acts on LGBTQ people.
I must say, I like what Taylor Swift did, and her play on words/phrases is very phenomenal.
