Angel Densetsu by Yagi Norihiro

This manga was a surprising one and in a good way. It highlighted society's tendency to judge people and categorize between good and bad and no in-between. Angel Densetsu was about Kitaro Seiichiro who was kind and pure-hearted. Sadly, due to his horrifying appearance, he was oftentimes misjudged and would get into trouble.

I've read this manga twice or thrice a couple of years ago, and I still feel that it was one of those mangas that successfully portrayed people in our present-day society very well. There were times I felt bad for Kitaro, but the hilariousness of his lucky streaks made up the depressing undertones of the manga. It felt like One Punch Man, but not as popular - and I wanted it to become popular and for people to know more about it.

In addition to having a great story, very likable (and unlikeable) characters, the character growths of everyone around Kitaro and Kitaro himself were satisfying to read. I also like how his family was so much like Addams Family-like in appearance and countenance, but ironically, unlike the Addams Family, they were truly just a normal, kind family.

Although he's pure and kind, he was also strong. He seemed to not know his own strength and he misunderstood things here and there, so he's also part of the misunderstandings his peers and seniors thought of him. But despite this, he knew that because of his scary face, he was an outcast amongst his peers. As a kind-hearted person, he took this into account and tried to get out of everybody's way, when in truth, he just wanted to have friends. In just one chapter, you'll feel so bad about him and the treatments most of his peers did on him, but you'll also find yourself cheering himself and with him. Although it was very comedic and downright funny, the story would pull you to think about social problems and you'll ended up thinking about it deeply.

I didn't have any more words to say about the manga because by doing so, I would be spoiling too much. Just - I recommend reading this 100% and I guarantee no one would be disappointed.
