Kettle calling Caitlyn
from the empty kitchen
and she scurries
charging
coasting
to
off the knob and
pour hot water into
the teapot
with its
plain passionfruit
purple tea
in a cute china tea
cup; chicks
chirping
and hen
charging
coasting
to
off the knob and
pour hot water into
the teapot
with its
plain passionfruit
purple tea
in a cute china tea
cup; chicks
chirping
and hen
harping and
rooster
cock-a-doodling.
Sun slowly scales
the morning misty
air and green
pines and gray
boulders
and rocky road
and blue pool
of a pond with orange
and red
and yellow
and rainbow carps bathe, dip, dive
amongst pink lotuses and frog croaks,
snake slithers,
dog barks and cat mews. Dear, dear Caitlyn cast an apprehensive eye
on her newspaper
as she sips her first cup of tea
alone – yet not alone.
