He fluttered his eyes open, blinking away the sand that irritated them He tried to utter a word, but instead a guttural sound came out from the back of his unused throat; parched and dried. He lied still while trying to figure out what happened after he passed out. He ceased remembering anything after he whispered his prayer and let darkness consumed him.

A female nurse ushered a lunch tray. "Ow! You're awake!" She exclaimed as she set his lunch on his bedside table. "How are you feeling?"

He thought her smile was as bright as the sun, showing all teeth and gum. He motioned for his dry throat with difficulty, and surprisingly, she nodded her understanding.

"Ah, you want water?" She sauntered towards his hospital room door. "Let me get you some. Wait for me okay?"

She didn't wait for his answer. He felt dreadfulness overshadow him when twenty minutes have gone by without a glimpse of her sunny disposition. No matter how hard he tried fighting the pull of sleepiness from the morphine injected into him, unwillingly, he closed his eyes.
